Here on the last day of this strange pandemic year, I want to thank all of you that contributed to Friends of Mike Clement this year. We were not able to host our annual October golf tournament fundraiser, but thanks to so many people we still raised the necessary funds to be able to award scholarships in May 2021.
The final net tally of funds raised in our Mike's 2020 Challenge was $7,466.95. While that is a little short of our $8,000 goal, it is enough to allow us to continue our mission in the new year. In fact, since there is a new high school in GCCISD, we will actually be increasing our commitment and awarding $9,000 in scholarships next year.
If you would like to make a donation to our fund to put us over the top, there is still time here on December 31st. The link to donate is here: https://friends-of-mike-clement.square.site/
Here is a summary of our commitment for 2021:
Goose Creek Memorial High School (two $1,000 sholarships)
Robert E. Lee High School (two $1,000 sholarships)
Ross Sterling High School (two $1,000 sholarships)
IMPACT Early College High School (one $1,000 sholarship)
Peter Hyland Center (one $1,000 sholarship)
Stuart Career Tech High School (one $1,000 sholarship)
The people I need to thank include all of you who made a general donation, those of you who donated items to our online auction, those of you who purchased items in that auction, Ron Lawhon (without whom I could not do this), Carl Theiss (who helps and promotes us in countless ways), and many other people that volunteer their time and talent to our organization. I am very grateful to all of you.
Here is a list of those who have helped us for Mike's 2020 Challenge:
Note: If you supported us and your name is not on the list yet, rest assured it is just an oversight. Please contact me at mcasey@baselodge.com and I will take care of it.
I also want to thank Ron and Carole Villere who have served multiple years on our scholarship committee.
Let me wish you and your family a wonderful 2021. Thank you again for your support!
